The 5th “Oceans from Space” Symposium took place in Venice, Italy, at the Scuola Grande di San Marco, on 24-28 October 2022. As in past events, the new Symposium focused on the major scientific and technological achievements, innovations and challenges of Ocean Observations from space. The Symposium themes invite to look ahead, beyond traditional approaches, and define novel uses, activities and services to advance the exploration of oceans on Earth, as well as on other planets.
“Oceans from Space” Symposia provide a forum to debate topical issues, to explore advanced technologies, instruments and missions, and to better address management and policy requirements. The scientific program of the 5th Symposium was complemented by social events that included art exhibits, music recitals, and a visit to the MOSE (i.e. MOdulo Sperimentale Elettromeccanico) installation, destined to protect Venice and its Lagoon from the acqua alta flooding events.
